Desert Bloom
To die and so to grow in the ear of Mount Hira,
A shattered beak faces the fear of…
Along the way of slippery snake,
Past the house of dripping fate,
Under Time’s haunting reign
Into Brain’s cracking frame.
Where blood is smoothed in the fraying cocoon
Where heart is perfumed in the light of the moon
Where mind dilutes in the range of the flute
Oozing delight and spicing the roots
Of a robin bereaving the mute.
An uncontainable spring
Spills out the cave like a
A wide, open vase flinging a wave over
A patch of cactus, and clenching trees,
An angsty rabbit, and moaning leaves.
Water splashes the perch of a trembling feather
Sitting still on a roof she thought was a tether.
The cooing of the doves and the
Buzzing of the dawn
Roll the red carpet and rejoice in
Her song,
Blooming the dew of the desert.
